Lick the Spoon wins "Best of Chocolate" at 2010 Taste of the West Awards!11th November 2010 – Immediate ReleaseWiltshire Chocolatier Lick the Spoon has won the prestigious “Best of Chocolate” category award at the 2010 Taste of the West awards ceremony announced this week (Wednesday 10th November). The 2010 awards process spanned eight months with over 1000 product entries from seven counties across the South-West and each category winner at the ceremony had already won a gold award. Lick the Spoon won five gold awards in 2010. Held at Haselbury Mill, Somerset, the well known broadcaster, journalist and food and drink critic, Nigel Barden presented the awards whilst guests enjoyed a lunch of award-winning produce sourced entirely from the South West. The Best of Chocolate award was a new category award for 2010 in response to the large number of entries from chocolatiers in the Southwest. The award was given for Lick the Spoon’s Rum and Raisin truffles which the judges described as “a complete experience that couldn’t be improved”.
![]() Lick the Spoon founder Diana Short is delighted and described the awards as “a wonderful boost following our expansion in 2010. We are delighted that the Rum and Raisin truffles won, as they are one of our finest creations. Standards are being raised all the time as there is now so much competition in the South-West” Lick the Spoon has continued to expand it’s range throughout 2010 and launched eighteen new flavour chocolate bars earlier this month with packaging designed in Wiltshire, manufactured in Cheltenham, and of course the bars themselves handmade in their Corsham factory. The handmade chocolate company now supply luxury department stores Liberty and Harvey Nichols and expect to supply John Lewis food halls in 2011. Diana explained “it’s been a rollercoaster year and despite the economic downturn we’ve continued to increase our product range and improve our packaging and design. This has paid dividends as we’ve now increased our presence in the London stores and have good prospects for 2011.” Lick the Spoon chocolates can be bought online from their website, locally through their shop in Cirencester, direct from their Corsham factory or from local farms shops and delicatessens. They will be at both the Bath and Bristol Christmas markets later this month. www.lickthespoon.co.uk |
