Lick the Spoon wins Double Gold at the 2009 Taste of the West Awards!

Wiltshire Chocolatier Lick the Spoon has won two prestigious Gold awards at the 2009 Taste of the West awards announced on Tuesday 25th August. The awards highlight successful and high quality businesses across food and drink production, hospitality and food retail.

The gold awards were given to Lick the Spoon’s fresh handmade chocolate collections, the “One for Me One for You” collection, and the Southwest themed “Wonders of the West” Collection. It is the third successive year that the “One for Me One for You” collection has won gold and the second for the “Wonders of the West” since its launch last year.

Lick the Spoon founder Diana Short is delighted and described the awards as “the perfect start to Lick the Spoon’s expansion plans”. Diana went on to explain,”We are setting up a new mini-chocolate factory in Corsham, Wiltshire, and are about to employ our first two trainee Chocolatiers”. Their recruitment process was followed by Channel 4’s Dispatches program for a forthcoming episode featuring employers bucking the trend in a recession, to be broadcast mid-September.

Lick the Spoon have recently secured the prestigious commission of creating the Selfridges Oxford Street store Christmas centrepiece. A giant 1.5 metre high solid chocolate beanstalk together with Jack and the Beanstalk themed luxury chocolate gifts such as the Goose that lays the Golden egg. “ We have to make a midnight Sunday night stealth delivery to Oxford Street in October, and work through the night finishing the beanstalk in time for the Christmas launch the following day”, Diana described.

Lick the Spoon are planning to open a shop in Cirencester before Christmas. Their chocolates can be bought from their website or from select retail outlets, amongst them, The Allington Farm Shop, from whom they buy the fresh cream for their chocolates.

“It’s an amazing year for Lick the Spoon”, says Diana…, “all of our hard work seems to be finally coming together”!
