Lick
the Spoon wins Double Gold at the 2008 Taste of the West
Awards!
Wiltshire
Chocolatier Lick the Spoon have won two prestigious gold
awards at the 2008 Taste of the West awards announced on
Monday 18th August. The awards are one
of the most highly respected in the food and drink
industry, highlighting successful and high quality
businesses across food and drink production, hospitality
and food retail.
The
gold awards were given to Lick the Spoon’s fresh
handmade chocolate collections, the “One for Me One for
You” collection, and the new “Wonders of the West”
Collection.
Husband
and wife team Matthew and Diana Short are delighted and
described their new Wonders of the West collection as
"encapsulating everything we are passionate about,
fresh chocolates without compromise…it's about
being inspired by every ingredient we use and developing a
recipe that sums up the essence of the place where that
ingredient was born and the people that gave it life!”
The
small family business has only been going for eighteen
months but demand has been so high that they now plan to
open a small artisan production unit in the Chippenham
area later this year. "We have a real head of steam
behind us now" explained Diana, "we now have the
confidence to take the business to the next level and
really go for it...we've been working throughout the
Summer developing a new range of high quality products
suitable for delicatessens which we plan to roll out in
September as part of our expansion plans".
Their
chocolates can be bought from their website or from select
retail outlets, amongst them, The Food Gallery in
Marlborough, whom they have been working with to fine tune
the delicatessen range.
“We're
very excited with the way the business is going”, says
Diana…, “we’ll soon be looking for a chocolate
apprentice”!
