Gold winning Celebration with their Royal Highnesses the Duke & Duchess of Cornwall

Press Release – Corsham, Wiltshire

This Tuesday 19th July we were invited to attend a special Gold Award winners food fair at Exeter Cathedral Green to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Taste of the West with over 60 Gold award-winning producers from across the South-West. Taste of the West’s patrons, HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall joined the celebrations.

The Duchess of Cornwall stopped by for a talk with Diana Short, founder of Lick the Spoon, and tried a clotted cream salted caramel whilst her ladies in waiting sampled ‘The Bish’ a caramel praline created for the Bishop of Gloucester.

It transpired that the Duchess is a frequent visitor to Corsham explained Diana and when I invited to her to visit our Chocolate Factory she thought that would be a splendid visit! We also talked about our recent trip to Madagscar.

Their Royal Highnesses helped to celebrate Taste of the West’s anniversary by jointly cutting a large birthday cake decorated in the company colours. Taste of the West was honoured to be able to present HRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall with a hamper packed full of many delicious products, including Lick the Spoons Hot Chocolate Lickable Spoons, which they took away with them.

The event took place on the hottest day of the year and presented something of a challenge to the award winning chocolates maker

We were south facing next to a wood fired oven on the hottest day of the year exclaimed Diana! It was 33 degrees C so we had to improvise and keep chocolate tasters on Ice packs ready for our Royal guests. It was worth it to be part of these unique celebrations.

The event formed a week of celebrations for Lick the Spoon. The day before they had showcased their chocolates at the Houses of Paliament at an event hosted by Michelle Donelan MP and attended by Andrea Leadsom the new Secretary of State for Food. To finish the celebratory week Lick the Spoon sent the first order of their new Hot Chocolate Lickable Spoons to launch in the prestigious John Lewis Foodhall, Oxford Street, London.
