We work with two local print and packaging companies to create this plastic free packaging with Art Deco inspired graphic design from Lick the Spoon’s creative director Diana Short.

We wanted to capture the Art deco feel of the 1920s and 30s and the cocktails of the era seemed the perfect way to do this explained Diana. The Mary Pickford for example has the wonderful combination of Rum, Pineapple and Maraschino as printed in 1928’s ‘Cocktail Time in Cuba’.

The six eggs in the range are…

The Bish – incorporating Lick the Spoon’s 2016 Taste of the West Supreme Champion winning Chocolate.

Dark Deco Orange – using Lick the Spoon’s 2018 Taste of the West Champion Chocolate winning Orangey chocolate stick recipe. Great Taste Gold Winner 2019.

Of the six eggs in the range Diana is particularly proud of the new Vegan Caramel delight egg with eight Vegan salted caramel chocolates.

We know from our research that the flavour most requested by Vegans is a milk chocolate salted caramel equivalent. We tasted lots of readily available Vegan chocolate but weren’t satisfied with the taste. I had already spent several months perfecting a salted caramel recipe that I knew was a knock-out and indistinguishable from the best non-Vegan salted caramels, but couldn’t find the chocolate to match. We had decided to make our own from scratch when friends at Chocolat Madagscar asked us for our opinion on  their new Cashew-milk chocolate. Not only was it the the best Vegan milk chocolate equivalent we’ve ever tasted, it’s entirely made on Madagascar under the Raisetrade initiative. Perfect!

The Vegan Salted Caramel truffles won a gold at the Taste of the West awards 2019 and are finalist for Champion Chocolate. The Vegan Caramel Delight egg won a Great Taste Gold 2019.

Accompanying the Luxury eggs are Lick the Spoon’s new British Bird themed Nest Box eggs. The box features a British Garden bird theme, tips on how to attract birds to your garden, and bird spotting guide as part of the packaging.

We wanted to create a plastic free box that looked beautiful, was made locally, and also had added value. We hit upon the Nest box idea and originally wanted to make it usable as an actual Nest box. We discounted that due to the UK climate and the need to avoid any plasticised coatings. So we incorporated a garden bird spotting guide as part of the packaging design. We’re so pleased with the original design created from hours of origami, that we’ve design registered it – enthused Diana
