Six Taste of the West Gold Awards 2019 – Patron H.R.H Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales
Hurrah! – We’ve won an unprecedented six gold awards at the Taste of the West Awards 2019. The most Gold awards we’ve ever won at the Taste of the West awards in one year!
The Gold Awards were for :-
Caramel Bronde Truffles, House Dark Truffles, Vegan Salted Caramels, Humbug Sticks, Chocolate Ammonites
The Taste of the West awards celebrate the finest in South-West food and drink. They are the Oscars of the food and drink industry for over 25 years.
The awards cover the South-West counties of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire. Taste of the West is owned by over 1,000 members including food and drink producers, restaurants, cafes, pubs, hotels, farm shops and specialist retailers in the South West. All passionate about the provenance and quality of the products they make, serve and sell.
We are over the moon to win six Gold Awards for each of the products we entered this year. Some of the chocolates are like old friends – such as our House Dark Truffles, whilst some are completely new recipes developed this year – explained Diana
The products now enter a further round of judging to determine the category finalists, category Champions, and the overall Supreme Product champion. An awards ceremony held at Exeter University later in the year will announce the overall category winners.
We are very fortunate to be named Champion Chocolate each of the last four years, and in 2016 Supreme Champion explained Matthew. Winning an unprecedented six Gold awards is a fantastic acknowledgement of the quality and care that goes into our chocolates and the months that Diana often takes to perfect new recipes.
The new Vegan Salted Caramels launched at Easter in our Vegan Caramel Crunch Art Deco Easter Egg. They were an instant hit and sold out before Easter. Available on fresh chocolate counters, we will launch the Caramels in chocolate box format later in the summer. They are available now in our new Unwrapped (TM) minimally packaged range
Our House Dark Truffles have been a favourite for many years previously winning a Gold in 2015. They are made with organic Jersey Cream from Ivy House Farm and Raisetrade Madagascan and Colombian dark chocolate. That is chocolate made in the country of origin. Our House Dark Truffles are popular on fresh chocolate counters, in our mixed boxes, or in our new Unwrapped (TM) plastic free minimal packaging range.
Our House Bronde (TM) truffles are made with our own unique Caramelised Bronde chocolate. We make our Bronde chocolate over three days in small batch grinders just a few kilograms at a time. The truffles are freshly made each week using organic Jersey for sale on counters including Gloucester Services Farmshop Southbound, Chocolate Avenue Malvern and Leaf and Bean Bradford on Avon. We often include the truffles in our mixed chocolate boxes, or they can be purchased online in our new Unwrapped (TM) range.
Our Chocolate Ammonites launched last year in our Botanical range. Plastic Free packaging perfect for gifts or to treat yourself. The Ammonites are made with Jurassic coast sea salt and have a delicious creamy buttery taste.
You can buy them on our website today and they are also available to Wholesale customers in cases of 12.
Last, but most definitely not least, we have our new Humbug Sticks and Lebkuchen.
The Humbug sticks will launch shortly in our Botanical range. They are ready to go we just need to photograph them! A delicious smooth butter taste reminiscent of a favourite mint they are made to Diana’s unique new recipe that took many hours of tasting to perfect!
Our new Lebkuchen are also ready to go – they just need to be photographed. They are sure to be a be a big hit at Christmas. This a completely new recipe and style to the popular Lebkuchen we made several years ago. They have gone through dozens of recipe and ingredients tweaks evolving from a round disk to delicious and beautifully decorated cubes. We’ve even set them aside for weeks at a times to see how they mature. We’re so pleased they won a Gold Award!
We’re delighted to win six Taste of the West Gold awards. It’s a terrific accolade and one we’re very proud to achieve – Matthew
