Sustainability Information
Manufacture
We make all of our chocolates in our small chocolate factory in Corsham, Wiltshire. We use 100% renewable energy and have centred our business around the UN sustainable development goals for 2030. We use no fossil fuels, our cooling is through the highest efficiency air-sourced heat pumps meeting the Climate Change committee’s efficiency requirements for 2050. We have been recognised for our sustainability and were finalists for the Taste of the West South-West environmental sustainability awards 2019, have been named Impact Founders by UCL London, and are part of the Doughnut Economics Action Network. We support the Akany Avoko Faravohitra children’s home in Madagascar.
Chocolate
Our dark chocolate is made under the Raisetrade scheme which keeps approximately 33% of the added value remaining in the countries of origin (compared with 7.5% with fairtrade and 6% with non fairtrade) – Madagascar and Colombia. Our single origin Vietnamese milk chocolate is made under a scheme which gives more to the cocoa farmers in the Mekong delta.
Cream
Our champagne truffles are made with organic cream from Ivy House Farm, Beckington, Wiltshire. They are a small farm using pasture fed cows and have been certified organic for 20 years. We have been getting cream deliveries from them twice a week for 15 years now. The farm is enrolled in the farm stewardship scheme dedicated to reintroducing wildlife back into the countryside.
Packaging
Our packaging is entirely plastic free and printed and made in the UK.
The printing uses 100% Vegan inks, 100% renewable energy, 100% recycled paper, zero waste to landfill and is printed using 100% chemistry free plates. The print is FSC® Certified, ISO 9001 Certified, ISO 14001 Certified and 100% Green Energy Certified. Paper is sourced in affiliation with the Woodland Trust Carbon Capture Scheme and Forest Carbon, ensuring that all of the paper is Zero Carbon.
The cardboard tube is made in the UK by the only remaining UK manufacturer of this type of packaging. It is made from 100% recycled board hence the craft colour.
The food contact safe shred is made in Wiltshire from paper made from 100% fsc certified sources in a hydroelectric mill based in Kendall.
