Good news – Lick the Spoon have been named Taste of the West Awards Finalists 2018 in the chocolate category for our new Cacao beans in Dark Chocolate!
Our good friends in Crayfish Bay, Grenada grow these premium cacao beans for us. They are hand harvested, fermented and sun dried on the plantation before being toasted to enhance their natural aroma. The beans are hand coated in single origin chocolate made with raw cane juice and finished with a dusting of cocoa powder.
The single origin dark chocolate is Vegan friendly and contains no refined sugar. It is made at source using a non-refined raw natural sugar, made from dehydrated cane juice which retains its natural flavour and nutrients.
Diana spent months on the packaging design, we even completely changed the whole look at one point. But it was worth it as the finished product is plastic free and completely recyclable or compostable using an inner made from sustainably grown plant material. We also think it’s rather beautiful.
They’re extremely moreish and quite delicious and we’ve been developing them for almost a year testing and tasting them, we’re pleased the judges thought so too!
The judging to decide the individual product champions including Champion Chocolate and the ultimate Supreme Product Champion will take place at the beginning of August. The overall winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony held in the Grand Hall at Exeter University Tuesday 13th September.
A list of the finalists can be found here on the Taste of the West website.
